November 2, 2007 — Jacobs Signs Agreement to Acquire Carter & Burgess
Jacobs Engineering announced that it is completing the acquisition of Carter & Burgess, a 3,200-person professional services firm. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Carter & Burgess is a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, design, and planning firm serving transportation, water infrastructure programs, building programs, land development and planning sectors.

October 2, 2007 — Tetra Tech Acquires Consulting Firm ARD to Expand International Presence
Tetra Tech announced today that it has completed the acquisition of ARD, who provide consulting and technical services for international aid agencies and other governmental bodies. ARD has more than 25 offices and 760 employees worldwide with revenue of about $110 million and net revenue of about $65 million over the last 12 months.

July 18, 2007 — Architecture Billings Index Jumps to Highest Level in 2007
Following an almost three point spike in May, the Architecture Billings Index (ABI) zoomed up more than four points in June reaching its highest mark of the year. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported the June ABI rating was 59.3 (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings), and inquiries for new projects was 62.6.

January 1, 2007 — Asset Management to Play Significant Role as Governments Seek Funding Solutions to Support Infrastructure Needs
An EPA Gap Analysis in 2002 estimated that the difference between what cities would be spending given current patterns and should be spending in capital costs for clean water and drinking water infrastructure construction between 2000-2019 would be dramatic. That gap would be $220 billion if cities keep spending steady over that time period and does not account for the separate operations and maintenance gap, which would be approximately $300 billion.

January 1, 2007 — Water Rehab: Coming of Age
As owners and operators of the nation's "wet" utilities face multiple problems with aging and failing potable water and sanitary sewer systems, they are taking advantage of every option to rehabilitate or install new pipe. Water main infrastructure in the US, like sewer infrastructure, has reached its useful life expectancy. According to the 2002 EPA Clean Water Needs survey, $247 billion is required over the next 20 years for the rehabilitation of water mains.

Worldwide pipeline construction in 2006 is projected to be up slightly from 2005 levels, as the industry continues to look at building additional systems to meeting growing demand for natural gas in the U.S. and the key international regions. 16,465 miles of pipeline are projected in 2006. 4,302 miles of pipeline were constructed in 2005 in the US, and projects scheduled for 2006 are expected to add some 4,768 miles to the country's energy transportation network. January 30, 2006 — Carriers Post Blowout 4Q Numbers: Industry Now Set for Record Growth
The U.S. wireless industry is on track to chronicle its best-ever quarterly customer growth, with more than 5.4 million net adds already reported by four of the largest carriers. Verizon recorded 2 million net customer additions, Cingular gained 1.8, while T-Mobile added 1.4 million net wireless customers.

When Cingular Wireless launched its 3G network into the last month of 2005, the move catapulted 16 major metropolitan cities ino the spotlight as the most competitive 3G markets in the country. January 16, 2006 — Increased Wireless Tower Activity With New Funding and New Player
Several mergers and acquisitions activities have occurred in the tower industry as several national and regional carriers are looking to expand their footprint. The recent spur of activities reflects a high comfort level for tower companies among investors. Jonathan Atkin of RBC Capital Markets says it's unlikely that there will be more mergers within the industry, as the industry experienced in 2005, but added that the large public operators will continue acquiring sites opportunistically.

The Austin Company, an international firm offering a comprehensive portfolio of in-house architectural, engineering, design-build and construction management services, announced today that it has accepted a bid submitted by Kajima USA, Inc., a subsidiary of Kajima Corporation of Japan, for the purchase of Austin's core U.S. assets. December 12, 2005 — Arpeggio Acquisition Corporation Completes Merger with Hill International, Inc.
Arpeggio Acquisition Corporation (OTCBB: APGO), a specified purpose acquisition company, and Hill International, Inc. ("Hill"), the worldwide construction consulting firm, have announced that the companies have completed the merger of Hill with Arpeggio. At closing, Arpeggio changed its name to "Hill International, Inc."

December 1, 2005 — Private Fiber Networks Offer Viable Alternatives
Several markets want to be connected via high-speed broadband networks that bring advanced communications services, data and video transmission, and other benefits, just as telecommunications carriers and cable companies are scrambling to expand their systems and gain new customers. FTTP is a hot topic but some customers aren't willing to wait for traditional service providers to bring them packages which may not be precisely what they need.

December 1, 2005 — City Offering Broadband Over Electric Grid
Manassas, VA, is offering broadband communications services over the city's existing electrical infrastructure to more than 15,000 potential customers. The suburb is the first city in the U.S. to make broadband over power line technology available on a city-wide basis. BPL bundles energy on the same cable that carries electrical current, making it unnecessary to install an additional line for customers to receive internet service. COMTek is receiving 100 customers per month and expect this trend to continue for the foreseeable future.

December 1, 2005 — Fiber Build-Out Market to Gain Momentum
FTTP is a hot topic among companies who build and supply components and equipment for constructing telecommunications networks. There is a dramatic increase in the number of homes and small businesses receiving internet services via direct fiber connections. The FTTH Council study predicts one million connections will be made in late 2006 or early 2007.

December 1, 2005 — Gas Distribution Spending to Top $8.9 Billion in 2006
New construction spending and spending to rehabilitate, repair and replace existing infrastructure by LDCs is projected to rise. Supporting this are two recently released surveys. One, a long-term survey by the National Petroleum Council, estimates spending for new pipelines at $5 billion per year for each of the next 20 years to expand the nation’s current 1.4 to 1.8 million mile distribution system by about 25 percent.
